Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian's-best-friend looks at Brian.

Brian nods head.

Brian's-best-friend nods head.

Brian looks over to kitchen doorway.

Wonder Woman and Larry pull heads out of doorway.

Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian's-best-friend looks over to kitchen doorway.

Brian coughs.

Brian's-best-friend looks at Brian.

Well?

Brian

You won't believe what has happened to me?

Brian's-best-friend

Try me?

Brian

Well. I was made redundant on Monday.

Brian looks at kitchen doorway.

Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian's-best-friend

What?

Brian

I came home and found the house was in darkness.

Brian looks at kitchen doorway.

Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian

She's taken the little tike. hasn't she. and disappeared up to her brothers.

Brian's-best-friend

What? I don't believe it?

Brian looks at kitchen doorway.

Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian

She Left me a note. But it says next to nothing.

Brian looks at kitchen doorway.

Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian's-best-friend

Why do you keep looking over there?

Brian

I am saving the best bit to last.

Brian's-best-friend

What there's more?

Brian slaps forehead.

Brian

More. Sure there's more. I think I have lost the plot. I keep seeing things. Things that are not there.

Brian's-best-friend

Is that why you keep looking over there?

Brian

Yes. You see on Monday. I had a bit of an episode.

Brian's-best-friend frowns.

Brian's-best-friend

Episode?

Brian

Well. I sort of got all hyper and ended up in a bit of stemper. I woke up with my pants on the outside of my trousers and the little tike's Buzz Lightyear toy in my hand.

Brian looks at Brian's-best-friend.

Brian smiles.

Brian

I think I saved the world with it?

Brian's-best-friend laughs.

Brian's-best-friend

Brian. Sounds like you have had a few too many sherbert's or something? You just need to calm down. You are alright. Aren't you?

Brian

Yes. Well. Apart from the delusions. I feel fine.

Brian puts hands on legs.

Brian

Actually. I feel great.

Brian smiles.

Brian

I even had a virtual date with you know who? From you know what?

Brian's-best-friend

Sounds kinky.

Brian

No. Nothing like that. Although.

Brian looks at kitchen doorway.

Brian

No. I don't think I should go into that.

Brian's-best-friend

Go into what?

Brian stands up.

Brian walks over to kitchen doorway.

Brian

I have something to show you.

 

Scene 2: Int. - Kitchen - Day

Brian looks around kitchen.

 

Brian

Larry?

Brian looks around kitchen.

Brian

Wonder Woman?

Brian looks around kitchen.

Brian

I don't believe this. You are there when I don't want you. Then when I do, you go all shy. What is your problem?

Brian's-best-friend walks through kitchen door.

Brian's-best-friend

I think I should be going now.

Brian looks startled.

 

Brian

Alright. If you must.

Brian looks around kitchen.

Brian's-best-friend walks out of kitchen.

 

Brian

Delusions. Can't trust them to do anything right.

Brian walks to kitchen doorway.

Brian turns back to kitchen.

Brian

I'll see you two later.

 

Scene 3: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian's-best-friend stands next to door.

Brian walks up to Brian's-best-friend.

 

Brian's-best-friend

I don't really mind if you are seeing things.

 

Brian

Actually. I am seeing two delusions. One looks like Larry Blackman.

 

Brian's-best-friend

Larry Blackman from Cameo?

Brian nods head.

Brian

Cod piece and all.

Brian's-best-friend

A cod piece? You are weird Brian.

Brian's-best-friend shakes head.

 

Brian

And Wonder Woman.

Brian's-best-friend laughs.

 

Brian's-best-friend

Wonder Woman too.

Brian

But get this. She looks like my ex.

 

Brian's-best-friend smiles.

Brian's-best-friend turns around.

I think I will leave you two, to it. Or should I say three?

Brian

You don't think it's odd?

 

Brian's-best-friend turns around and looks at Brian.

 

Brian's-best-friend

I don't care if you can see Larry Blackman, Wonder Woman, or even Elvis blooming Presley. Just so long as you are physically alright and don't need any help? (PAUSE) You don't need any help. Do you?

 

Brian shakes head.

Brian's-best-friend

Well just take it easy and look after yourself. If they begin to annoy you. Then give us a call and I will come over and sort them out?

 

Brian's-best-friend smiles.

Brian smiles.

I know they are not real. But it is very interesting all the same.

Just take it easy.

 

Brian open's door.

Brian's-best-friend steps outside.

 

Brian points up into sky.

 

Brian

Is it a bird.(BEAT) Is it a plane. (BEAT) No it's Super Elvis.

 

Brian's-best-friend

Brian's-best-friend walks away.

Brian shuts door.

 

Scene 4: Int. - Airplane - Day

Elvis-one looks at Elvis-two.

 

Elvis-one points out of window.

You see down there. That's where my old house I

was.

 

Elvis-two looks out of window.

 

Elvis-one

I sold it years ago (BEAT) to a nice chap. (PAUSE) Called Brian.

 

Scene 5: Int. - Front Room - Day

Funky music plays in background.

Brian Dances on spot.

Wonder Woman dances on spot in front of Brian.

Larry Dances next to CD player.

Wonder Woman stops.

Wonder Woman leans over to Brian.

Wonder Woman whisper's in Brian's ear.

Wonder Woman

Brian. I want you to have fun tonight.

Brian looks at Wonder Woman.

Door bell rings.

Brian walks over to CD player.

Brian turns music down.

Brian looks around.

Wonder Woman and Larry have gone.

Door bell rings.

Brian walks to door.

Brian opens door.

candidate-one smiles.

Brian looks at candidate-one.

Brian looks behind candidate-one.

candidate-one smiles.

Brian stands back.

candidate-one walks into room.

Brian shuts door.

 

Scene 6: Int. - Front Room - Day

 

Brian walks into room.

Brian stops in front of candidate-one.

candidate-one smiles.

Brian looks candidate-one up and down.

Brian frowns.

You look different?

candidate-one

In what way?

 

Brain looks into candidate-one's eyes.

 

Brian

Hum.

 

Brian looks candidate-one up and down.

 

Brian

I am not sure. Just different.

 

Candidate-one looks nervously at Brian.

 

Candidate-one

Do you treat everyone you meet like this?

 

Brian laughs.

 

Brain

Sit down.

 

Brian gestures to sofa.

 

Brian

Please.

 

Candidate-one sits down on sofa.

telephone rings.

Brian walks over to telephone.

Brian looks at candidate-one.

Brian looks away from candidate-one.

Brian picks telephone up.

 

Scene 7: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian's-best-friend

Brian. Is she there yet?

Brian

Is who there yet?

Brian's-best-friend

You know who. From you know what?

 

Brian looks over to candidate-one.

Brian smiles.

Brian turns his back to candidate-one.

 

Brian

You mean you know who?

Brian's-best-friend

Yes. You know who, from you know what. I arranged for her to have lunch with you. Today. Is she there yet?

Brian

What made you do a dumb thing like that.

Brian's-best-friend

Well they do say you should confront your delusions?

 

Brian puts right hand on head.

 

Brian

The saying is. You should confront your FEARS. NOT your delusions.

 

Brian's-best-friend

Anyway. She is due at your house soon. Take her out to lunch or something. Don't say I never do anything for you. Good luck and goodbye.

 

Brian looks across to candidate-one.

Brian gestures with telephone.

Brian puts telephone down.

 

Scene 8: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian smiles nervously at candidate-one.

Brian

Er. Sorry. I thought you were.

 

Candidate-one

A delusion?

Brian smiles.

Candidate-one looks at Brian nervously.

Brian sits down.

Brian smiles.

 

Candidate-one

Hum.

Brian

So. You have come to have some lunch?

Candidate-one

Yes. Rather than to be harassed by a total stranger.

Brian looks down.

Brian

Sorry.

 

Candidate-one

That's alright.

Brian looks at candidate-one.

Brian

No. I really am. You don't know how sorry I am.

 

Candidate-one looks at Brian.

 

Candidate-one

You know I really should leave. You have behaved very badly.

 

Brian looks at floor.

 

Candidate-one stands up.

 

Candidate-one

Right. So where are you taking me for lunch then?

 

Brian looks AT candidate-one.

 

Brian

You are not going then?

Candidate-one

Yes. But with you. And you are going to buy me lunch.

 

Brian smiles.

Brian stands up.

 

Brian

I know just the place. It's on the High Street. It's not far.

 

Candidate-one

Sounds good to me. What is it called?

 

Brian

Chez Brian's.

 

Brian and candidate-one walk through door.

 

Scene 9: Ext. - Restaurant - Day

Brian and candidate-one sit down at table.

Larry and Wonder Woman sit down at another table.

Brian looks across to Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman smiles.

 

Candidate-one

So. Brian. What is it with you and these delusions?

 

Brian looks at candidate-one.

 

Brian

You can see them?

 

Candidate-one looks around restaurant.

Candidate-one

Are they here then?

Brian

Yes.

Brian hides right hand with left hand.

Brian points to Wonder Woman and Larry.

Candidate-one waves to Larry and Wonder Woman.

 

Brian

I thought you said you couldn't see them?

 

Candidate-one

I can't but that is no reason to be rude.

 

Candidate-one smiles.

Brian smiles.

Wonder Woman smiles.

Larry throws sweet at Wonder Woman's cleavage.

 

Brian

I guess not.

 

Brian looks into Candidate-one's eyes.

Candidate-one looks back into Brian's eyes.

Brian

You really a nice person aren't you?

Candidate-one

You bet.

waitress puts lunch on the table.

 

Candidate-one

Foods up.

 

Brian and Candidate-one eat lunch.

 

Candidate-one

So how long have you had these delusions then?

Brian

Oh. Since Monday. I think?

Candidate-one

Why. You think?

Brian

Well they seem so real. It is hard to distinguish them from real people sometimes.

Candidate-one

So I gathered.

Brian smiles.

Candidate-one

But they are the same people each time.

Brian

Well. The two over there.

Brian points.

Brian

Well there are part of my persona.

Candidate-one

Really? So what do they look like?

 

Brian smiles.

 

Brian

Well. One looks like my ex-girlfriend dressed in a Wonder Woman outfit.

Candidate-one

Kinky. And the other one?

Brian

And the other one is Larry. He looks like Larry Blackman. You know form the Eighties funk band Cameo.

Candidate-one

No? What does he look like then?

Brian

Well. He is black. And he wears a cod piece.

 

Candidate-one

A cod piece?

Brian

Yes. A cod piece. And he has a Scottish accent for some reason.

 

Candidate-one

Maybe he is Scottish?

 

Brian looks at Candidate-one.

Brian smiles.

 

Brian

Funny.

 

Candidate-one

So why do you think you see them?

Brian

I think they are here to help me understand something?

Candidate-one

Understand what?

Brian

I don't know yet.

 

Scene 10: Ext. - Roadside - Day

 

Candidate-one kisses Brian on cheek.

 

Candidate-one

Thank you for a lovely lunch. It was weird. But it was lovely.

Brian smiles.

car pulls up alongside candidate-one.

Candidate-one gets in car.

Brian sighs.

Wonder Woman puts arm around Brian's shoulder.

Wonder Woman

I told you she was nice.

Larry puts arm around Wonder Woman's shoulder.

Larry

Yes. She was a very good choice.

All three wave goodbye to candidate-one.

 

scene ends with a camera zoom out from brian's face.

camera continues to zoom out as if from the centre of the Universe.
