Holo World Three

Brian is a schizophrenic who finds himself living in a computer generated holographic world, of the mind.

The story is of Brian a mild mannered office worker. After a series of stressful events, Brian's mind snaps and he begins to suffer from delusions brought on by schizophrenia. Brian has two main delusional characters, Wonder Woman, his perfect love, and Larry, his black Scottish alter-ego. Rather than trying to suppress his delusions, Brian decides to take a ride on the roller coaster of his mind, with some interesting results.

 

 

Episode 1 : First Contact

Scene 1: Ext. - Road - Day

Brian is sitting in his Vauxhall Omega on the M25 chewing the steering wheel. He listens to the radio and he thinks that the DJ is talking to him. He changes stations trying to find another station but he keeps hearing messages. The scene ends with Brian looking into the rearview mirror, after switching off the radio.

Scene 2: Ext. - Car Park - Day

Brian arrives at work. Finds the car park is full. So parks on the pavement outside of the reception and then walks through reception to his office

Scene 3: Int. - Office - Day

Brian sits at his desk. The other three desks are empty even though he is two hours late. He reads his e-mail and discovers that he has been made redundant, along with the rest of his work colleagues. The scene ends with Brian banging his head on the desk.

Scene 4: Ext. - Road - Evening

Brian is sitting in his Vauxhall Omega on the M25 chewing the steering wheel. He grabs a CD from the mess that is his front seat and puts it in the player. SOS by the Police is the song.

Scene 5: Ext. - Driveway - Night

Brian arrives home to find his home in total darkness.

Scene 6: Int. - Front Room - Night

Brian comes through the front door and finds a note from his wife saying that she has left him, taking the kids with her. Brian sits and cries. Then he hears a woman's voice. He looks up and sees Wonder Woman . Brian laughs hysterically. Brian questions where she has come from and how she had managed to get in. She then promptly disappears. Brian then spends the rest of scene trying to decide what happened.

Scene 7: Int. - Front Room - Night

Brian can't sleep. So he decides to listen to some music. He spends the rest of the scene drinking pop and eating ice cream. While dancing very badly to his generation of dance music, funk and soul.

Scene 8: Int. - Front Room - Night

Brian wakes up on the floor, at about 3PM. He is half naked and has a pair of his underpants over his trousers. He is holding his son's Buzz Lightyear toy. He tries to remember what happened earlier in the night. He remembers saving the world from aliens using the toy and a lot of balls. As he sits on the sofa Wonder Woman walks in from the kitchen. She looks like one of his true loves. Brian is embarrassed and confused. Slowly he decides that he is imagining her. But she is a very good delusion and he does not want her to go. The scene ends with him trying to bed her.

Scene 9: Int. - Bed Room - Morning

Brian wakes up in bed naked and with a big grin on his face. Wonder Woman walks into the bedroom and asks Brian to keep his promise to save the Universe. Brian grimaces and disappears under the bed sheets. Brian talks to himself under the bed sheets trying to reason his way out of the delusion. Wonder Woman gets into bed with him and says that if he saves the Universe she will be his sex slave, forever. Brian agrees reluctantly.

Scene 10: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian wakes up in the afternoon. Wonder Woman has gone. Brian ponders on the events. He decides that he has the power to conjure up any character using his imagination. He tries this out and finds that he can indeed produce anyone from thin air. Then he realises he is still in bed. He shoos them away. The scene ends with a camera zoom out, that looks like the camera is in the centre of the Universe.

 

Episode 2 : Is there a doctor in the house

Scene 1: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian is downstairs in the living room, pacing around trying to decide what to do. He discusses the situation with himself in detail. He decides he needs to speak to a doctor. He phones his doctors surgery for help and leaves a message.

Scene 2: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian answers the door and lets the doctor in. The doctor is dressed like the hologram doctor in Star Trek Voyager. The doctor checks Brian over using a medical tri-quarter. Brian is both bemused and shocked at the reality of his delusion. The doctor asks Brian about his symptoms. The doctor diagnoses Brian with a delusional form of schizophrenia. Brian is not convinced. The doctor prescribes R&R and promptly disappears into thin air.

Scene 3: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian decides to sit down to watch television. The characters on TV start to talk to him. Brian mutes the television and chooses a video to watch. The characters in the film talk to him too. Brian switches the television off. Brian decides to get a newspaper. The scene ends with him leaving the house.

Scene 4: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian returns with a paranoid look on his face. Brian walks over to a mirror above the fireplace. Brian describes his Truman Show like journey to the paper shop to the mirror. Brian then realises that he is talking to himself. But continues anyway. Brian decides to try to use his delusions to find out what is going on. Brian asks his reflection for the doctor to come back. There is a ring at the door and Brian answers it. It is the doctor. Brian shuts the door in his face.

Scene 5: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian is sitting on the sofa trying to work out what is happening. Is Brian mad, is he dreaming or is life itself some sort of holographic computer game?

Scene 6: Int. - Kitchen - Day

Brian is in the kitchen making a coffee. Talking to himself. He decides he must mad. But being mad was very liberating.

Scene 7: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian is in the front room drinking his coffee. Trying to decide what to do next. He realises that he can do anything he wants to do and discusses the options. Brian decides to use his madness to save the Universe. As he had promised to Wonder Woman . The telephone rings.

Scene 8: Int. - Front Room - Evening

The doctors surgery suggests an appointment. Brian cancels the request. As he puts the phone down he looks to the camera 'What have I just done?'.

Scene 9: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian 's living room is full of dancing fictional characters. Brian turns to the camera 'Bollocks!'.

The scene ends with a camera zoom out, that looks like the camera is in the centre of the Universe.

 

Episode 3 : Love

 

Scene 1: Int. - Front Room - Night

Brian looks into the mirror above the fireplace and discusses what he should do next with his life. He decides to find true love, as in the fairy tales. He tries to decide who he loves most. He finds that he has had three true loves in his life, other than his wife. He decides that he should interview them using the power of his delusional mind.

Scene 2: Int. - Front Room - Night

The three women sit on the sofa. Brian asks them questions. They end up in a verbal fight among themselves, like an Opra show. Brian decides to try his fantasy celebrities instead.

Scene 3: Int. - Front Room - Night

Brian lies on the sofa and considers all of the possibilities. Brian narrows it down to three likely candidates, but decides to interview them separately this time.

Scene 4: Int. - Front Room - Night

Candidate-one is interviewed. She is very thoughtful.

Scene 5: Int. - Front Room - Night

Candidate-two is interviewed. She is very bubbly.

Scene 6: Int. - Front Room - Night

Candidate-three is interviewed. She is very sexy.

Scene 7: Int. - Front Room - Night

Brian discusses them with himself . The camera switches between the two sofas with Brian on both.

Brian decides on candidate-one.

Scene 8: Int. - Front Room - Morning

Brian decides on a meeting place. He tells candidate-one in person using his delusional powers. He then prepares to meet her for lunch.

Scene 9: Ext. - Restaurant - Day

Brian arrives at the meeting place and waits.

Scene 10: Ext. - Restaurant - Day

Brian waits. The restaurant staff laugh at him.

Scene 11: Ext. - Restaurant - Day

Brian leaves broken hearted.

The scene ends with a camera zoom out, that looks like the camera is in the centre of the Universe.

 

 

Episode 4 : Hate

Scene 1: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian is sitting in the front room. Wonder Woman is comforting him. Brian tells her about his failed search for love. Wonder Woman says 'But you still have me?'. Brian tells her that she is just part of his delusional mind. Wonder Woman says 'But you still love me?'. Brian decides that it is better to love than not to love at all.

Scene 2: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian imagines candidate-one. He talks to candidate-one and asks why she did not turn up. She explains that she was too frightened, he is schizophrenic after all. Brian explains that he was made mad by a crazy world. He explains that he is not dangerous just delusional. Brian tells her 'It is not a problem that I can't fix'. She disappears.

Scene 3: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian stands in front of the mirror. Brian asks himself why do people treat him differently.

Scene 4: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Larry appears next to Brian. Larry is Brian's inner self. Larry is black, wears a cod piece and speaks with a soft Scottish accent. Larry explains that this is how some people see him. Brian does not believe him.

Scene 5: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian and Larry are sitting on opposite sofa's. Larry asks Brian to remember how people treated him when he was not in his suit. Brian exclaims 'Not like a black guy in a cod piece!!'. Larry reminds Brian about a typical incident.

Scene 6: Ext. - Shopping Centre - Day

Larry is walking around a posh shopping centre. Followed by security guards.

Scene 7: Ext. - Shopping Centre - Day

Larry walks into a shop. The assistants whisper to one another.

Scene 8: Ext. - Shopping Centre - Day

Larry hands over a Platinum credit card to buy the goods. The assistant checks the card and looks at Larry. She calls over her supervisor, who okays the transaction.

Scene 9: Ext. - Shopping Centre - Day

Larry is followed by the security guards out of the shopping centre. As he leaves the exit he turns into Brian.

Scene 10: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian says 'I thought I was just being paranoid?'. Larry smiles 'No it was that they just saw me in you'. Brian and Larry stand up and high five each other.

Scene 11: Int. - Front Room - Evening

Brian and Larry talk about women and funk music. They discuss the problems with the youth of today; rap, guns, drugs and money. They decide something has to be done to put the soul back into music. They discuss forming a band, called the delusions, with Wonder Woman as the singer. Brian points out they are just figments of his vivid imagination. Larry retorts 'You will just have to imagine harder. Feel the force and all that'.

The scene ends with a camera zoom out, that looks like the camera is in the centre of the Universe.

 

Episode 5 : Society

Scene 1: EXT. - Street - Day

Brian is walking back from a job interview. He sees an old homeless man ranting on about, in his day. Brian looks at him and thinks about his own situation. He walks across to a café opposite the old man.

Scene 2: EXT. - CAFÉ - DAY

Brian sips his coffee and watches the old man. He watches how people comically avoided seeing him. While he does this Larry and Wonder Woman are chatting to each other. Brian asks them to stop, but they carry on. The waitress asks if they would like another drink. Brian looks at her. He asks 'Would I like another drink?'. The waitress replies 'And your friends. Wouldn't they like a drink too? Off to a fancy dress party are they?'. Brian opens his mouth and then remembers that morning's events.

Scene 3: Int. - Reception - Day

Brian is waiting for the interview to start. Larry and Wonder Woman are sat next to him, along with the other candidates. One of the other candidates looks at him. Brian smiles. Brian is then called into the interview. Larry and Wonder Woman follow.

Scene 4: Int. - Meeting Room - Day

Brian sits down. Larry and Wonder Woman stand behind him. The two interviewers ask Brian questions. They keep being distracted by something behind Brian. The interview ends and Brian shakes their hands, then leaves.

Scene 5: Ext. - Café - Day

Brian closes his mouth and looks over to his two delusions. The waitress leaves. Brian discusses with them that the waitress saw them. They explain that maybe she was a delusion too. Brian wonders. Then asks what they were doing at the interview that morning. Larry tells Brian not to worry.

Scene 6: Int. - Meeting Room - Day

The two interviewers watch as Larry throws sweets down Wonder Woman 's cleavage.

Scene 7: Ext. - Café - Day

Brian looks at Larry. 'I hope it wasn't anything too disgusting'. Brian stands up and leaves.

Scene 8: Ext. - Park - Day

Brian walks fast through a park trying to lose his two delusions. Larry explains that they are part of him. Like everything else. That he cannot just lose them. He needs to accept them and live with them. Brian stops and turns to Wonder Woman . 'But I love you. How can you be part of me? It's not right to love yourself is it?'. A passing mother comments 'You're one of those. Aren't you?'. Brian looks at her. She runs away. Brian looks around, no one is there. Brian puts his hands to his head and screams. Brian sees a police car and runs in the opposite direction. Larry and Wonder Woman follow.

Scene 9: Ext. - Street - Day

Brian is hiding behind a van. He hears police cars all over the place. Larry and Wonder Woman are next to him. 'What are we going to do Larry?'. 'Don't ask me I am just a delusion' Larry replies. Wonder Woman suggests that Brian should ask someone else. Brian wants the computer game to stop. But it does not. 'Think!' he shouts. An old woman asks if he is alright. Brian calms down. 'Sorry'. The old woman rants 'The police drive me crazy too. Those sirens are just toys to them. In my day…'. Brian scuttles off followed by his delusions.

Scene 10: Int. - Front room - Day

Brian shuts the front door. The door bell rings. He talks to himself about who it could be. Then opens the door. It is Larry and Wonder Woman . Brian tells them to go away. He shuts the door. They ring the bell. He ignores it. The bell keeps ringing. He opens the door. His best friend is standing there. Brian urges him in. 'You will not believe what has been happening to me?' Brian says.

The scene ends with a camera zoom out, that looks like the camera is in the centre of the Universe.

 

 

Episode 6 : Friends

Scene 1: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian and his friend sit on opposite sofa's. Larry and Wonder Woman are hiding in the kitchen. Brian tells his friend about being made redundant and about his wife. Brian keeps looking at the kitchen door. Brian's friend notices. Brian explains that he is delusional. His friend does not seem to mind this. He tells his friend that he saved the World using a Buzz Lightyear toy. Brian finds it very funny. His friend laughs too, but is a little shocked. He has never seen Brian behave so strangely. Brian tells him about trying to meet with candidate-one. Brian walks into the kitchen to get Larry and Wonder Woman. His best friend waits in the front room.

Scene 2: Int. - Kitchen - Day

Brian cannot find Larry or Wonder Woman . He argues with himself in the kitchen. His friend walks in and suggests 'I should be going now'. Brian looks around one more time. Then walks out of the kitchen with his friend.

Scene 3: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian's friend tells Brian that he does not care if Brian thinks he can see Larry, Wonder Woman, candidate-one or Elvis. His friend tells him that he should rest and look after himself. Brian smiles and jokes about seeing Elvis flying through the sky. Brian shuts the front door.

Scene 4: Int. - Airplane - Day

An Elvis convention is flying to America. One Elvis point's down and says to another Elvis 'Look Elvis, there's my old house. I sold it years ago to a nice chap called Brian'.

Scene 5: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian is dancing to some funk music with Larry and Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman whispers in Brian's ear that she wants him to have fun. The door bell rings. He turns down the music and opens the front door. On his door step is candidate-one. Brian lets her in.

Scene 6: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian treats her like she is a delusion. He stares into her beautiful eyes. He looks her up and down. Candidate-one is by now very nervous. But sits down anyway. The phone rings. Brian answers it.

Scene 7: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian's friend tells Brian that he has managed to persuade candidate-one to meet him that lunchtime. Brian's friend says that you should confront you delusions. Brian points out that the saying is that 'you should confront your fears'. His friend wishes him luck anyway and says goodbye.

Scene 8: Int. - Front Room - Day

Brian smiles nervously at candidate-one. Brian explains that he thought she was a delusion. She is shocked at first. But calms down as they talk. Candidate-one suggests they go out for lunch. Brian knows just the place. They leave the house.

Scene 9: Ext. - Restaurant - Day

Brian and candidate-one have lunch. Larry and Wonder Woman are at the next table. Candidate-one is interested in Brian's thoughts on his delusions. They discuss the possibilities at length. Candidate-one becomes smitten with Brian. Brian explains about Larry and Wonder Woman at the other table. Candidate-one says she can't see them. Brian explains that they are projection's of his persona and are there to help him understand. 'Understand what?' she asks. 'I don't know yet'. Brian replies.

Scene 10: Ext. - Roadside - Day

Candidate-one kisses Brian on the cheek. Thanks him for a lovely lunch and leaves. Brian stands there with Wonder Woman and Larry waving goodbye. 'I told you she was nice' says Larry. 'She was a good choice'.

The scene ends with a camera zoom out, that looks like the camera is in the centre of the Universe.
